Cowgirls can also qualify to the conference tourney with a draw and outside help
LARAMIE, Wyoming (11/5/26) – The University of Wyoming soccer team closes out the regular season Saturday in a win-and-in scenario. The Cowgirls host Hawai'i at 12 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex, and if they win, they'd qualify to the four-team Mountain West Conference Tournament. The match can be streamed on MW+.
"It's survive-and-advance, and we are in playoff mode," head coach Josh Purdum said. "We don't like to talk about winning in terms of the result. We like to talk about the habits that create that winning, and that's what we want to do going forward."
Wyoming is 12-5-1 on the season and 5-3-1 (16 points) in Mountain West play. That currently positions the Cowgirls in fifth. The rest of the top of the table looks like this: Colorado College (22 points); Hawai'i (19 points); Air Force (18 points); and New Mexico (17 points). The Falcons and Lobos also play Saturday, and that's what creates the win-and-in situation for the Pokes. Wyoming can advance to the conference tournament via a draw, as well, if New Mexico were to lose to Air Force and score fewer than seven goals on Saturday night.
The Rainbow Wahine possess a 9-5-2 overall mark. They can finish anywhere from second to fourth but are guaranteed a spot in the conference tournament regardless of what happens Saturday.
It's a tight race in the table, and it's equally as snug for top points scorer in the league. Wyoming's Alyssa Glover has collected 15 points in conference, consisting of five points and five assists, which is tied for the top spot with Air Force's Annika Jost – also 15 points on five goals and five assists. When taking into account the entire season, Glover owns the conference lead in points at 26 (nine goals and eight assists).
Anuhea Aluli leads Hawai'i in 2026 with eight goals to go alongside one assist for 17 points. Goalkeeper, Kennedy Justin, is second in the league with a 0.92 GAA, which is a result of allowing just 14 goals with 56 saves. She also has a conference-best eight shutouts.
Wyoming keeper, Haley Bartel, also has eight clean sheets to her name. She's collected 59 saves and surrendered 17 goals for a GAA of 0.96.
The Cowgirls and Rainbow Wahine have only met three times prior to Saturday. Hawai'i owns a 2-0-1 record against Wyoming, and all three matches have been played on the island.
The Mountain West Tournament semifinals take place Wednesday at GCU Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. The Championship is set for Nov. 14.
