Wyoming opened season with runner-up finish at Utah Valley Invitational
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Cowgirls return to the links at the Ben Connell Ram Classic this Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,589-yard Ptarmigan Country Club.
Wyoming opened the season with a runner-up finish at the Utah Valley Invitational last week in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
Kiley Reisner finished third individually at 3-under, carding 71 in all three rounds, to lead the Cowgirls, who finished two shots behind host Utah Valley.
Junior Emerson Purcell (+6) and senior Elle Higgins (+6) finished tied for 14th for the tournament. Juniors Lucia Morelli (+9) and Kira Reisner (+9) rounded out the scoring for the Brown and Gold.
The 13-team Ram Classic field also includes host Colorado State, Cal Poly, Hawaii, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Colorado, San Diego State, Southern Mississippi, UC Davis, UNLV, Washington and Washington State.
"The first event taught us a lot about competing with higher expectations and will be of great value as we progress through the season," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "It is also rewarding to see their effort over the summer pay off so soon. We will look to carry that confidence into a tournament we are very familiar with."
The Cowgirls will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. Follow live results here: Ram Classic.
UW's fall schedule will continue at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Denver Oct. 2-4.
